Achievement of Fulbright Scholarship


Lecturer Tahmida Hossain Shimu from Department of Civil Engineering of MIST has received the very prestigious J. William Fulbright Award to pursue her Masters in Texas A&M University-College Station in USA from Fall-2017. She is a former undergraduate student of CE-13 batch of MIST and working as a lecturer in the Department since her graduation. She received the Commandant’s List of Honor all through 4 years of her undergraduate studies for her excellent academic performance. She also actively participated in various cultural and voluntary works as a student and was the first Cultural Captain of MIST. She participated in the 1st Mortar Workability Competition arranged by American Concrete Institute (ACI) in Minneapolis, USA and her team secured 4th position among 44 universities around the world. As a faculty member, she helped organize various events of MIST including First International Conference on Advances in Civil Infrastructure and Construction Materials (CICM-2015), Inter Department Cultural Competition (2015-2017), Nobin Boron (2015-2017) etc. As the first alumna of MIST to be receiving this award, she is also the only one in recent years to be selected for the Fulbright grant from Civil Engineering discipline of Bangladesh. MIST wishes her every success in all her future endeavors.
