Chemistry Lab

Chemistry Laboratory for Undergraduate Engineering Students at MIST is a spacious and well-equipped facility covering a total area of 4,800 ft², with a student capacity of 50 per session. The laboratory is supported by three lab assistants, one technician, and one lab attendant to ensure smooth, safe, and effective operations. It houses 38 essential pieces of equipment for instructional and analytical purposes. At Level 1 of the chemistry course, students actively participate in hands-on experiments involving basic quantitative inorganic analysis, solution preparation, and titrimetric techniques. Typical student activities include standardization of solutions, determination of metal ions, and analysis of water and simple inorganic samples. The laboratory is further equipped with a UV–V is spectrophotometer, oven, mechanical shaker, and a complete distillation setup, along with a wide range of chemicals. The mission and vision of the laboratory are to familiarize students with fundamental quantitative characterization techniques, enabling them to understand the sophisticated chemistry underlying their core engineering subject concepts.
