Qualifiers Announcement: 

The following participants have been selected to present their performances on the final day of Online Environmental Contest 2021 on November 28, 2021. 

1. Clean Metro Contest:

Announcement on 16 November, 2021

Many contestants have reached out to the oraganizing committee with the request of postponement of submission deadline. The committee has thereby decided to postpone submission deadline to 20 Novemeber 2021 (till 12:00 am) from 18 November 2021 for both the contest. The date of the final event (28 November 2021) will however remain unchaged. 

Program Details:

In realization of Golden Jubilee of Independence, Department of EWCE, MIST is initiating Online Environmental Contest 2021 to empower the youth to ponder environmental issues, share their thoughts, and pitch their ideas and recommendations to policymakers. Students across Bangladesh will compete in two different contests, namely 'Clean Metro Contest' and ‘Recycling Heroes Contest', where they will share innovative ideas and projects leveraging technical tools to solve environmental problems we face as a nation today.

There is no registration fee to enter in the contests. Winners of both the contests will receive attractive prize money and certificate of excellence. No one goes empty handed – all participants with qualified submission will be awarded certificates of participation.

Clean Metro Contest:
Goals:

The goal of this contest is to have students utilize their analytical and mapping skills simultaneously leveraging spatial and geographic data analysis tool –“Geographic Information System (GIS)”.

Scopes:

Students will prepare a map layout analyzing the critical parameters for environmental pollution (air and noise pollution) and determine the most vulnerable sites analyzing environmental parameter data of Dhaka Metro Rail Project using GIS. Students will also propose mitigation measures for the most vulnerable sites. The proposed control measures should be innovative, realistic, and economically viable for Bangladesh. Optionally, students may include a probable cost estimation of their proposed plan.

Submission guidelines:

  1. University students (undergraduate level) across Bangladesh can participate.
  2. Participants can enroll themselves as individual or in group of 2 (two) persons.
  3. Data for this contest would be available once the registration is complete.
  4. Participants has to make their final submission covering scopes of the contest in .ppt/.pptx format here. Submissions in other format or corrupted file will not qualify for preliminary evaluation.
  5. Preliminary evaluation of qualified submissions will be based on a grading rubric.
  6. Only shortlisted participants with the best submissions will get 4 minutes of zoom time to present/showcase their solutions (in .ppt/.pptx format) on the final day of event (28 November 2021).

Recycling Heroes Contest:
Goals:

The goal of this contest is to have students use their innovative and creative thinking responding to this year’s theme of Global Recycling Day — “celebrating our Recycling Heroes" and recycling techniques in general.

Scopes:

Students can submit a video responding to either this yer's theme of global recycling day or reduce, reuse, recycling techniques. The 2021 theme is “celebrating our Recycling Heroes”. Student videos should respond to the theme or promoting ways to recycle various materials.

Submission guidelines:

  1. College and university students (undergraduate) across Bangladesh can participate in this competition.
  2. Participant has to enroll themselves as individual.
  3. Participant has to make their final submission here covering scopes of the contest in .mp4 format. Submissions in other format or corrupted file or not accessible across all devices (PC, Laptop, Mobile Phone) will not qualify for preliminary evaluation.
  4. The length of the video should not be more than 4 minutes of screen time.
  5. Preliminary evaluation of qualified submissions will be based on a grading rubric.
  6. Only shortlisted participants with the best submissions will get 4 minutes of zoom time to present their video (in .mp4 format) on the final day of event (28 November 2021).
